REVIVE is a blended finance platform providing 200,000 informal workers and microentrepreneurs with access to affordable capital through innovative instruments, such as returnable grants and other supporting interventions, to help them restart their businesses.
REVIVE has provided financial and business support to cohorts such as beautypreneurs, small kiranas, sanitation workers, street vendors, entrepreneurs with disabilities, women artisans, etc. One of the key instruments is returnable grants – a zero interest loan with only a moral obligation to repay. Once returned, the grant forms part of a revolving fund that is then re-disbursed.
COVID-19 has dented the dreams and aspirations of millions of Indian workers and entrepreneurs. The pandemic has also exposed the frailties of our healthcare system. Through REVIVE and our healthcare initiatives, we are working with foundations, bilateral organizations, companies, NGOs, social enterprises and communities to restore and create a long-term recovery path for the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable communities. This will have a positive impact on economic activity, self-employment, and household consumption, giving families and small businesses the agency to pay their dues, buy daily business supplies and invest in protective gear and other operations to sustain and thrive.
