Nidan’s mission is to facilitate non-violent and peaceful collective action, directly as well as through networks, to create, replicate and activate structures and systems that cater to the needs of the poor and deprived so as to eliminate exploitation and provide opportunities for maximum growth.

COVID-19 Response

Nidan has provided dry ration kits to more than 30,000 families and hygiene and safety kits to more than 50,000 people. It has liaised with the government to make credit support available to informal workers, especially street vendors, so they can revive their livelihoods. The government, based on the organization's suggestions, launched the PM SVANidhi Yojana and gave credit loans worth ₹10,000 to some 5 million street vendors.

It also provided online training on health, hygiene and digital payments to food vendors, and shared information on the availability of relief packages and vaccinations with informal workers. With support from donors, the organization has donated oxygen concentrators and other medical equipment to hospitals in Delhi.

During these unprecedented times, we stood firmly with the low-income communities that we work with throughout the country to ensure nobody dies of hunger or want of medical care and by enabling access to public support programmes.
