Jan Sahas works in 16,000 villages and urban areas in 84 districts across 12 states in India. It has helped 1.4 million migrant workers access social security and protection. It has also provided social, legal and rehabilitation support to 100,000 survivors of rape, trafficking, CSEC (commercial sexual exploitation of children), manual scavenging and forced labour practices.

COVID-19 Response

Jan Sahas has provided emergency support to 1.5 million migrants and other excluded households, including dry rations, cooked food, emergency transportation, direct cash transfers and advice, and provided support through a helpline, mental health counselling, legal aid, the distribution of personal protection equipment (PPE) kits, and more. It has developed a social registry of 1.2 million migrants and delivered the entitlements to 946,000 households.

The COVID-19 pandemic is both a humanitarian and economic crisis that has had an adverse impact on migrant workers. Jan Sahas initiated the Migrants Resilience Collaborative (MRC) with the aim of sustainably supporting 10 million workers and their families in 100 districts and cities India.
