Indus Action is a do-tank with a mission of providing a sustainable path out of poverty for 1 million vulnerable families in India by 2025. The organization aims to accomplish this by ensuring access to at least three legislated rights: right to education, right to food and right to livelihoods, and related welfare schemes provided by the government, resulting in increased annual income for families by at least $160 for three consecutive years.

COVID-19 Response

As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Indus Action has worked directly with communities on the ground to get them access to food, nutrition and health security. It has also worked with the government to ensure hassle-free vaccination drives, advocacy for more vulnerable groups of pregnant and lactating mothers, and children orphaned due to COVID-19, and the setting up of hunger-relief centres.

The people hit the hardest by the pandemic are India’s poor and socially disadvantaged. Our social protection policies are unable to reach them on time, in full or at the quality that protects their dignity. Millions of families are slipping back into poverty. We’re working to ensure this gets reversed.
