Dharma Life has created a network of 14,000 rural women leaders in 50,000 villages to deliver solutions to help India achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through behaviour change and skilling programmes, and by delivering social impact products. This network builds trust within the community, which allows for improvements in the quality of life for rural communities, accelerated by technology, innovation and collaboration.
Dharma Life's Jeevan Sangram campaign has transformed its network of 14,000 rural women entrepreneurs into a crisis response force. Leveraging local connections, the network is creating awareness about COVID-19, prevention and vaccination, mapping and addressing health and essential needs at a household level and driving community-level interventions. The effort is augmented by technology and a network of national and international partners.
As we were responding to COVID-19 in early 2020, we realized that the need was much bigger than the immediate threat to health. Therefore, we took an iterative approach that led to the We-for-Village Alliance and a holistic programme focused not just on response but also on recovery and building resilience.
