The Center for Wildlife Studies is an internationally recognized organization that specializes in wildlife research and related issues of policy, conservation and education.
As the Center for Wildlife Studies had a strong ground presence in rural Karnataka and Goa, it started supplying essential medical equipment, such as face shields, personal protection equipment (PPE) kits, oximeters, thermal scanners, gloves, masks and oxygen concentrators, to primary healthcare centres (PHCs). It has established contact with and identified the current needs of 500 PHCs in and around wildlife parks in 11 districts in Karnataka and two districts in Goa. It has already supplied aid to 324 PHCs.
I never imagined that the Centre for Wildlife Studies, as a wildlife conservation organization, would engage in effective COVID-19 relief. I am incredibly proud of our field staff for supporting 500 primary health centres in remote rural India and bolstering the efforts of frontline doctors, nurses and ASHA (accredited social health activist) workers. In just six weeks, we reached 324 PHCs and will continue to enlarge our efforts.
