Dasra’s #BackTheFrontline initiative seeks to support non-profits at the frontline of India’s COVID-19 response and the communities that have endured the greatest challenges resulting from COVID-19 and consequent crises. This is done through funding, building critical capacities, thought leadership, and so on.
Through the #BacktheFrontline campaign, Dasra has supported and channelled resources to some 80 NGOs in more than 20 states in India, helping them accelerate their COVID-19 relief efforts, which are focused on awareness, immediate care, medical support, and the training and capacity building of frontline workers, mental health support, financial assistance, skilling and livelihoods.
Since the second wave has happened, Dasra has been lucky to support some 80 organizations so far, with flexible and emergency funding to enable the communities and their organizations to survive. While the focus in the last three months has been emergency relief, and to enable organizations and communities to survive, we need to work to rebuild over the next five years. We need to actually trust these on-the-ground communities and community-based organizations enough to give them support, funding and networks, to be a sounding board, and to allow them to make the decisions.
