In India, one in two children face child sexual abuse (CSA). Arpan works to prevent CSA and heal those who experience it. It trains children and adults through the school-based Personal Safety Education Program. It also trains other organizations for onwards implementation. Arpan’s e-learning modules reach children around the world. It has impacted 1.6 million children and adults so far.
Working with partners, Arpan has distributed grocery kits to low income families. It has been operating a mental health helpline to address anxiety, fear, stress and other pandemic-related concerns along with hosting webinars on child sexual abuse, mental health and parenting. It has also distributed oxygen concentrators to respond to oxygen needs and provide WhatsApp-based self-care services.
The COVID-19 situation in India has been devastating. I am glad Arpan has been a frontrunner in addressing food security by distributing grocery kits to over 12,000 families who are daily wage earners, provided mental health support to over 1,500 people and provided oxygen concentrators to hospitals.
