Ahmed El Alfi has been an early stage/growth investor for the past 30 years. He founded Hybrid Capital Partners in 1990, a private investment partnership that funded and helped develop several successful companies.
Since 2010 he has founded several firms – Sawari Ventures, Flat6Labs, Nafham and TATP. Sawari Ventures is a Cairo-based VC firm that helps transform MENA region economies through funding high-growth technology-based companies.
Flat6Labs, which has grown to become a leading regional start-up accelerator, has formed and funded more than 200 companies from its offices in Abu Dhabi, Beirut, Cairo, Jeddah, Manama and Tunisia. Nafham, the Arabic online video education platform covering the Algerian, Egyptian, Kuwaiti, Saudi Arabian and Syrian public-school curricula, caters to more than one million students monthly and has provided over 100 million free lessons to date.
TATP, established in 2013, took over one-half of the American University in Cairo’s campus in Tahrir Square to form the GrEEK Campus; a 25,000-square meter office park where more than 140 start-ups work and collaborate. Fast Company named El Alfi one of the most creative people in the world.
